Currently, this facility is available at Top 500 Merchant outlets in Bengaluru including Landmark, Shoppers Stop, etc.

Eligible customers of Citibank can set up their NFC-enabled mobile phone, download their Credit Card information on to the mobile phone and then tap the phone near a special NFC reader (attached to a retail Card payment terminal) to process a transaction, instead of swiping their Credit Cards.
Customer Eligibility
You must be a holder of a Citibank-issued MasterCard Credit Card in Bengaluru to be eligible to sign up for Citi Tap and Pay, subject to conformance with Citibank's internally determined criteria for eligibility.
Additionally, you will need a Nokia 6212 handset with a Vodafone connection.
You must have registered your Vodafone mobile phone number with Citibank prior to availing the Citi Tap and Pay facility.
What happens if I am not part of the eligible base, but want to participate in the Citi Tap and Pay program?You need to have a Citibank MasterCard Credit Card, a Vodafone mobile connection and live in the city of Bengaluru to be eligible to participate in this program. The mobile number has to be registered with Citibank.
If you do not have a Citibank Credit Card, but still want to participate in the program, you may choose to apply for a Citibank Credit Card, and then apply for Citi Tap and Pay program if and when your Card application is processed. All existing Card application processes, documentation, KYC and credit policies to approve/decline a Credit Card application will continue to apply in this case.
What if my mobile phone number is not registered with Citibank, or if my mobile number has changed since I registered with Citibank?You can get your mobile phone number updated with Citibank by logging on to Citibank Online at www.citibank.com/india or by calling in to 24-hour CitiPhone helpline. Wait for 1 day for the mobile number change to get updated on our records.

Apart from this, the phone comes enabled for NFC - it has been designed to support NFC Card transactions. NFC also allows you to tap your phone at special NFC posters to download offer coupons that you can redeem at select merchant outlets to avail discounts.
Citi Tap and Pay is a free service. However, you will have to buy the Nokia 6212 mobile phone to participate in the program, and will have to pay for individual transactions made on both your mobile phone and Credit Card as you do currently.
The Nokia 6212 mobile phone, available at select Nokia stores in Bengaluru, for a special discounted price of Rs. 5,000 only (MRP of Rs. 10,000). This price is less than the market price for similar web-enabled, multimedia-capable mobile phones in the market. The Nokia 6212, however, is currently the only mobile phone model in India to support NFC.
Additionally, there is a special Cash Back offer for you - if you use your Citi Tap and Pay phone for 6 transactions before December 31, 2009, you will receive a Cash Back of Rs. 2,500 on your Card statement.
And if you use your Citi Tap and Pay phone for 12 transactions before December 31, 2009, you will receive a Cash Back of Rs. 5,000 on your Card statement - this makes the phone practically free for you.

Transaction
You have to set up the wallet and Card information on the phone after the purchase. After doing so, you may open the wallet and make payments by tapping the phone at the checkout point at any of the participating retail stores.

Yes, a charge-slip will be generated as part of the transaction. You will have to sign the merchant copy. You may retain the customer copy.
Yes, certain merchants may need to see your Credit Card to process the transaction. Also, it may be requested for as part of the verification process.

Coupon
You can download special Citi Tap and Pay "virtual" coupons onto the phone. These coupons are electronic coupons that can be downloaded by tapping the phone against a special Citi Tap and Pay poster at the merchant outlet. These coupons can be used for redeeming special offers at specific outlets.

Citi Tap and Pay coupons are electronic coupons that can be downloaded by tapping the phone against a special Citi Tap and Pay poster at the merchant outlet/mall/other site. Once downloaded, the coupon will be visible in the "Coupons" section of the wallet.
You should login to your Citi Tap and Pay wallet at the checkout point. You should then show the merchant the coupon and once acknowledged, click redeem. This moves the coupon to the "Redeemed Coupons" section of the wallet.
Customer Security
Yes, not only does Citi Tap and Pay comply with the latest security standards, the wallet on the phone is secured by a 4-digit password, so that you can use it to make payments.
(NOTE: It is important that you do not disclose this password to anyone at any time.)
The Card details on the phone are encrypted on to a secure element. The Citi Tap and Pay wallet is additionally protected with a PIN.
The Card download is done only after asking you 3 security questions: your Date of Birth, your address, pin code and an OTP. This OTP is sent to you upon request. The request should only be from the mobile number you have registered with Citibank.

Even if the phone is lost or stolen, the Citi Tap and Pay application is password protected, and therefore risk of fraud transactions is minimised. However, as an additional precaution, we recommend that you call CitiPhone at (080) 2229 4653 to get your Card blocked and a new physical Card issued. You can then re-download your new Citi Tap and Pay Card.
On executing a transaction, you will get an alert informing you of the transaction, the merchant and the amount. The alert will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Yes, for additional security, a Citi Tap and Pay transaction cannot exceed Rs. 10,000 in value.
Your Card number, PIN, Date of Birth and pin code are extremely confidential. While the personnel at the Nokia store may help you with the download process, they should not be allowed to actually type in the information.

Customer Service
My phone is not working / I am not able to use the mobile phone at an ME outlet / The transaction is not going through. What should I do?You can get your Nokia 6212 mobile phone serviced at select Nokia Care outlets. If your mobile phone is not working, you should walk-in to the Nokia Care outlets in Bengaluru. You should hand over your mobile phone for service only after calling CitiPhone to block your Card for Citi Tap and Pay transactions. When you receive your phone back, you should call CitiPhone at (080) 2229 4653 to unblock your Citi Tap and Pay Card.
You continue to retain your existing physical Credit Card. The Citi Tap and Pay Card is a virtual instance/copy of the same Card. Your Citi Tap and Pay Card will be valid only as long as your physical Card is active and in good credit standing.
If your physical Card expires or is blocked for any reason, the Citi Tap and Pay Card will also get blocked. Once the physical Card is renewed/reissued, you should call CitiPhone at (080) 2229 4653 to unblock your Citi Tap and Pay Card or reflag the Citi Tap and Pay Card for download depending on the circumstances.
Your credit limit stays the same. Your spends on both the Citi Tap and Pay Card and the physical Card will count against your existing credit limit.
